I waited. One second, two, five. Lorenzo didn't come back. My fingertips brushed the outline of the palm derringer inside my jacket, then withdrew. According to the plan, I was supposed to wait for Luca to come get me. But as the man in the hoodie rounded the far end of the passage, I caught one detail. His right hand was jammed in his pocket, and the shape bulging there didn't look like a phone or keys. It was closer to the outline of a small handgun.
